I used the hole directly above the steering pillar, mine had a rubber grommet in it still.

this is right under the wiper motor and it should have a rubber boot

On the speedometer cable there is a plug

I ran mine through an open hole at the speedo level more toward the outside edge of the firewall, around the clutch master cylinder , then over the bell housing and down under the car to the transmission - there should be metal clips the whole way on the firewall. sorry i dont have pics but i might be able to get them for you. Might not be the stock routing but it kept the cable with nice smooth swooping bends and without too much excess
