Are you going to change out the rear wheel bearings? You can cut the drum backing plate instead of removing the stub axles. Read the following thread:

community.ratsun.net/topic/39927-removing-rear-axle-nuts/

If you remove the stub axle nuts be careful not to damage the threads on the stub axle. You will need new nuts and you'll need to order them from nissan. I have a bunch of rear wheel bearings new that I'll sell you cheap of you are interested.

I'll get you some part numbers and confirm nut size.

If  your bearings are fine, save yourself a headache and cut the backing plate off.

I second this...

I wanted to change out the bearings so I did remove the stub axles.  It wasn't to bad but if your bearings are good there is not need.  Check out this:

If you decide to remove the stubs the nut takes a 27mm socket.  The nissan part number for this nut is 43262-21000.

I have two of the nuts and the wheel bearings if you are interested.

How much for the wheel bearings? And also, I have a Subaru LSD diff, and before I took my engine out and everything, my rear end would make a clunking sound. It sounded like something was shifting back when I'd take off. It seemed like the rear driver side. Then the last week, it started to sound like metal scraping ever so slightly. It wasn't a steady scrape, it was every time the wheel would rotate to a certain spot, it would make this slight shaving sound. Any ideas?

How about $15 shipped?
