SS320
Does anyone have some info and/or pics about the original washer bag or bottle for the wipers? Where does it fit, size, color etc? All I seem to have is two jets and a tee piece connected by what looks like fish tank/aquarium hose! 2 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Does anyone have some info and/or pics about the original washer bag or bottle for the wipers? Where does it fit, size, color etc? All I seem to have is two jets and a tee piece connected by what looks like fish tank/aquarium hose! Neither my 63 or 64 have ever had a hole in the hood for a windshield washer jet that I can see, I am unsure about 320s even having one at all, if they did, it likely would have a manual plunger to operate it. You are in Australia though, maybe they had different rules about new vehicles over there, and required them back then. Quote Link to comment
chzcake
The windshield sprayer was an option. I have never actually seen one in person, but it would be a canister. I know there is a drawing of it in the parts catalog. I can scan it for you after I get off of work tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
SS320
The two jets are just in front of the hood (bonnet). They are sooo close to the windscreen they are nearly touching the rubber screen seal. It's too dark now to add pics. They look as old as the rest of the rubber on the old girl but, I guess they could have been added later. Now I'm wondering what year model they did appear in so I can compare notes. SS320
Thanks heaps Ratsunites?!! I really appreciate the help. I see the illustration is dated 1968. A bit curious if that was the first year the option was available. The jets on my '64 do not look like the pictured original ones. Now I know they were added later. Probably for some stupid Victorian Cop rule. "Thou must not drive with bugshit adhered to thy windscreen" Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
My 320 book does not show an illustration, only part numbers. And the part numbers aren't for individual pieces, they are for the kit. Three different part numbers for three applications: 320, L320 and L320-U...I think. It's hard to decipher these books. I'll scan it in later. I thought they had a bag, not a bottle. Quote Link to comment
chzcake
Hmm I never noticed the date before. However, I have a book that is dated 1964 that shows the same picture. Quote Link to comment
SS320
I was under the impression the early models had a bag instead of the bottle. Looks like I was mistaken on that one. Now I don't know what to hook the washers up to!!! I'm was leaning towards the bag. Found a nice one made in Japan, new with fittings etc. Has any one actually seen an original washer setup in any of the 320's? Quote Link to comment
Zeke- Aus- Li
none of mine have them, or the ones I've seen.. would love to see some pics tho when you get a chance. bag sounds like a cool idea Quote Link to comment
SS320
The bag was a good idea. (seen in other cars) You could tell at a glance how much water was left but, if I remember right, you couldn't add any soap or cleaning chemicals. It was for water only. Happy to add some pics, should be a couple of weeks away yet. Quote Link to comment
SS320
Have taken some pics but, this is my first time at photobucket. Hope it works! Seems like a lot of info for 2 little pics but there it is. Quote Link to comment
SS320
Thought I would put this up, some seem to be interested. The new (old stock) washer bag has arrived. Some pics; Was thinking about placing on inner guard near the radiator and battery, but Iv'e got another plan for in there! So I will let you all know if it fits, works & looks ok. If interested.. Stoffregen Motorsports
I thought there was a spot for it already. One of the inner fender wells has two prongs poking upward that the bag just slides onto. I may be wrong, but I could swear it's there. Quote Link to comment
SS320
................Just went for a quick look but I don't see anything there. Maybe as US models are different under the bonnet, (hood)! Quote Link to comment
wayno
I can't see any type of window washer mounts on my 1963 L320 either. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Isn't a bonnet something a baby wears on it's head? And a boot is footwear. You guys are all jacked up. Quote Link to comment
SS320
Isn't the hood the place we live? And a trunk is just an old suitcase.....isn't it? ;) Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Speak for yourself man. I don't live in the hood. Quote Link to comment
