I have done this swap in the opposite order and it worked fine. I installed 3.889 gears from a 720 into a 79 620 housing that had stock 4.11 gears. Just need to verify which rear axle assembly you have. H190 or C200? They do no interchange. Link to comment

The early L16 motor 620 with automatic had 4.625 but other than the '79, all were 4.375s The rear gears from a 79 won't fit in your axle housing, you'll need a complete axle or the rear gears out of a 720 with a z motor. They definitely won't fit the 4x4, but will fit the '85 2wd that came with the H-190. Correct, the early 720 '81-'82 with Z22 and automatics had 4.11s (there may have been others I would have to look it up) Link to comment
