Bad gauge cluster voltage regulator? Easy $2 fix.

Are your turn signals working???? They are on the same fuse as the VR. If working, then not the fuse.

 

 

I think this is the 521 VR. Remove and carefully pry the case off and clean the contacts inside.

The back of my 1969 510 instrument cluster does not have a voltage regulator screwed to it. Ware is it located?

just did this w my 521. i kept fucking w the org.i ordered some 7809 frm amazon and intalled it and will have to gauge the meter when i fill up. Will let it go to half tank and see if at least 4.5/5gal go in

UPdate on the 9 Volt Reg.

Since it seems like 8.6 is the actual voltage needed the gauge reads alittle higher on both Gas and Fuel.

maybe if one orders a bunch one could find the best of the bunch of a 7908 VR and see if reads higher and pick that one

Google says one diode in the output will make it 8.3 volts

your right GGzilla I should have known that as I had a Ohm supply/Power supply at work and tons of 4001 thru 4005 diodes(drop .7volts) to choose from but I quit and wasnt thinking about it at the time. I could have made kits and made this ezer
