L24 510
I just got my L20 from the machine shop and found that it is cracked. The crack is between the head bolt hole and the water jacket. Is it possible that the machine shop cracked it when taping out the head bolt holes? What do it do? Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
this happens to l20's a lot its from some one not cleaning the holes good when they replace a head gasket Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It was there before they tapped it. You can almost twist the tap by hand, almost, it wouldn't put anywhere near the stress that a torqued bolt would. If it's a hair line crack it's been there for a while and is natures way of relieving stress. If it didn't leak before it probably won't leak now. Put some Teflon plumber's tape on the bolt threads and go for it. Quote Link to comment
