Recommended Posts

To anyone that steer (no pun intended) to either 5/8's bore rebuild kit, or new front 5/8's brake cyls...my bluebird in fast becoming a tree house as it is almost impossible (impossible so far) to find these tiny front wheel cylinders.

I dont know if you guys know Tana Bryan, but i am getting together with her and will try to come up with a way to restore steering wheels...stay tuned...the early truck one totally sukiyuki...would appreciate anyone having a source for the brake cylinder for my Bluebird, so i can get her of crutches (jack stands) 928-634-9601 if ya wanna yak about it...ted

I will be having a brake company make up some 411 (1300) wheel cylinders hopefully soon. In the meantime, my ferocious Dachshunds are guarding my Datuns. Hoping to get various 320 and 411 rubber gaskets made up fairly soon too. The way to a woman's heart...gaskets!

You mean the fronts, right? The rears are still available.

If only the market was large enough I would ask you about the chances of making up 410 / 411 / 520 / 521 door seal gaskets. Thanks for all the good work you are doing to keep our favorite cars rolling.

Word is that generic JC Witless or MG doors seals fit perfectly. Kinda haveta slam the door hard the first year 'til the new seals settle in, but after that.....

The JCWhitney "Universal" door seal, the kind that "don't rot or dry out" do both. I have Datsun original replacement weather stripping on the left side and JCWs on the right. The right have flattened and cracked, [good thing the driver gets in on the left]. If I could get another left side's worth of originals I could do some creative razor blade and contact cement surgery and have decent door seals all around.

By the way the Nissan USA central parts warehouse in Compton CA is alive and well, I need to get in touch with them and see what they did with the "real" Datsun parts.

Found the info from a RL411 owner:

Door seals from an MGB (Available by the foot from Moss Motors etc) work for the doors, HOWEVER, they are slightly too puffy and you will need to shut the doors harder for about a year. Did not bother me much.

I heard that all the old stuff pretty much got pitched during the Renault buyout.

Well all of this figuring out what fits what/interchangablity studying that I do, keep the Alzheimers away, ha ha. Who else would keep parts in their living room and kitchen (only rooms in this dumpy rental house with heat and light and power, nice place but on several acres and a shop). I started out trying to find parts for my PL 410 and just kept on going. I still remember the first NL 320 I saw and was so surprized at how cute it was. Well, we will just keep trying to keep these old cars going.

I get to go see two more private car museums in the Seattle area again. Advantage of doing volunteer work for the SOVREN guild (Vintage racing and shows) for Children's Hospital. We get to see all of the private collections and cool clothes for helping out, great fun too.

NISMOparts.com claims to have the left front factory door seal for $36.42 plus shipping as of this afternoon. It's the 411 part number and should fit the 521 driver's door.

They also have the 13 inch "Porthole" wheel covers from the 411 and the 1500 Fair Lady sports car for $38.80. I wonder if they grabbed on to the pitched parts?
