mtngoat
OK so after my battles with the drivetrain issues on the Deathmobile I've decided I'm sick of battling drums and their funkyness. That I'm mightily sick of dealing with frozen up adjusters didn't help. What are the favorite/simplest options, if any, for disc conversion which will not impact the usage of Z steel wheels I already run? Quote Link to comment

I'll take pictures and post them in my dormant build thread. Quote Link to comment
mtngoat
Interesting. I sent a mail to the other fellow in the link you posted with the maxima swap. Is that the swap you're discussing? Quote Link to comment
Silky_Johnson
Nah... I'm using all '83 200sx brake hardware: caliper brackets, calipers, rotors, and so on. The brackets are a bolt on swap to the goon axle, although it looks like bracket may need some modification to get the caliper centered on the rotor. Quote Link to comment
Dzaster
If for 510 wagon, try contacting Deans510. He sells brackets for the 510 and has great documentation with pics--which may be the same DQ article Silky referenced. He might be able to tell you if you can use the Z wheels with his setup, but I do recall him saying NO need for lowering blocks with his bracket/brake combo. Quote Link to comment
mtngoat
I corresponded with Dean and got some good info. It looks reasonable and simple enough, not dealing with drums ever again is very appealing. I'm going to dig in a little more and see if I'm ready to take the plunge Quote Link to comment
Dzaster
Right on! He does seem to do a nice bracket w/ incorporated bearing spacer/retainer and he has things well documented and thought out. Quote Link to comment
mtngoat
Finally read all the docs he sent, I'm not sure where I got the idea this is a Maxima disc swap, the article references the zx setup. Quote Link to comment
Dzaster
No, I believe it is a Maxima/200SX caliper he makes for the wagon. I think the ZX bracket he makes for the sedans. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I'm going to guess here... this has to do with the e-brake . Goons pull towards each other across the back using linkage rods while sedans are angled to the front and are cable, Quote Link to comment
