banzai510(hainz)
I'm guessing 3ohms versus 1.5ohms? guessed wrong the EI system usues a .7ohm coil (no ballast resisitor) thats why its higher output and design to run the full voltage. points ignition cant handle 12-14 volts thats why the ballast resisitor or a high resisitance coil. most people just grab a MSD blaster 2 coil , it looks cool and its the correct ohms value for the Matchbox. But the stock coil is the same for a 78/79 nissan Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Yes, '80 L20B matchbox is 22100-44W01 for 2wd and 4x4 non California 4 speed. I was happy to find this distributor in my '73 parts truck, then I found a coil rolling around in the cab ... it will be nice to know if it's the 720 coil or the 620 unit. They usually say "Use With Ballast Resistor" if for a points dizzy. Quote Link to comment

I found a coil two days ago, and wondered if it was points or for matchbox. sure as shit it said USE WITH BALLAST RESISTOR in green letters, once i uncovered the dirt Quote Link to comment
