I saw the timing set up a while ago but never the whole motor. $90k price, if I were rich and building a Z I wouls have no prob dropping that coin.

"As it stands this engine can churn out 420 HP at 9,000 rpm and 392 Nm (289 lb/ft) at 8,000 rpm thanks also to the increased compression (11.5:1 vs 11.0:1). With the improvements in design the red line has been raised 1,000 rpm to 10,000 rpm compared to the original TC24 head."

jay Leno has a 510?!?! (jk jk frio partners)

that engine is too sexy....maybe someday. I do have one question though...what valve cover do you put on that? lol. all these oics have no valve cover. it's a custom head...does $90k not include the probably custom valve cover to go with it? haha

11.5 to 1 compression ratio! What fuel? Nitroglycerin? No. I didn't mean NitroMethane. Chill it.

If you really want to excite the feds, try bulk intake runner injection of UMDH [unsymetrical Di Methyl Hydrazine] and at or before TDC instead of a spark direct cylinder injection of Nitrogen Tetroxide. That's Titan 3 breakfast. Hypergolic combustion.

I dunno what the allure is to that engine...Factory head castings have been ported to match that power output. (It's still wicked cool and I'd give my left testicle for one!) So maybe I do know what the allure is...

And the TC24 head has ALWAYS been available...not ever once was it not. It's not just a head though. You send them a core N42 engine, and 100K$, and they send you back a 420HP, 10,000RPM, tuned, complete, engine WITH A WARRANTY!

You can't buy just the head and timing gear. It's an all or nothing deal...you buy the whole engine, or you don't buy it.

Mike I run 11:1 with flat tops and a shaved e88 just fine on pump gas. Dont think 11.5 is that extreme at all on a head with a modern efficient combustion pattern.

Is it really about the max power with that motor? I dont think so, there are far cheaper easier ways.

The price seems fair when you consider this is how much is currently being asked for a stock s20. This is at the 2013 Tokyo nostalgic car show

if i had 100k i wouldnt spend it on one motor ... but on 4 dattos with 4 motors that would have all the power i would ever need and or maybe a small plane with flying school

People say that, but you have to remember that its not like people with only $100k are buying these. Its people that have enough money to blow that kind of budget on just the motor and still have plenty left over to buy other cool things. Youre thinking like a poor Datsun owner. Hell, if I only had $100k I would ration it out too to make sure that I could maximize the money to fun ratio. But the truth is, the people that own OS Giken parts like that arent worried about the cost of anything.

concur, just like i dont want one $25k+ car, i want ... (see sig.)

also, although i like to keep nissan engines in nissan cars,

im not that nostalgic as to want to keep an old dasun engine in my old datsun chassis.

if i had that much money to blow on an engine or even HALF of that,

id use it to fit a vq35/37 or maaaybe the vk56 in my truck,

(along with everything required to have it running and able to handle all that)

(because that was always the plan for my 240... so i should add 240 would get it first..)

Very true. The cam plays a huge part in how much compression you can run. It determines how the cylinder pressure is stacked up and used. I had a 12:1 long rod  2200 that I ran on the street for years (on pump gas).

Good point about the cam. I had to us an aggressive duration to bleed some comp off so I could advance the timing to where the dcoes wanted to be.

So just for  :poop: and giggles i emailed them about an L20B and just some info on the TC24 and here are the 2 emails I got in return. The conversations happened on Mar 7.

"Hi Zachary,

In general, yes, we have the capability to take on many different types of projects.  However, since there are not many people requesting components for the L20B, the burden of development costs would solely be on you.  Literally, this would be a one-off project and would be rather costly.  In comparison, the TC24 engine is expected to retail over $20000, with a limited run of 11 engines.  Of course there are many different variables when it comes to building a custom engine, and those options would affect pricing also.

Thank you,

Bernard"

I then asked how many of those 11 were left got this.

"OS Giken Japan have had deposits for the motors for the past couple years now, so its hard for us to know exactly how many are still available.  We assume at least 2 are still available because we have had a couple conversations about building a pair of race cars with these motors, but those plans never panned out."

I so wish I had the money even though I don't have a car that it will fit in at the moment.  But I wouldn't mind having it around just in case.

Imagine fitting one of these into a hakosuka?!
