Ya 2nd panting over it, there is no good reason to remove it really. Even if its peeling you just sand it down real good, smooth it out and lay your primer.

There are many methods of removal though, cola soda, baking soda mixed with detergent, oven cleaner, various acids, brute force like sanding etc...

1st thought: why would you wanna remove chrome? but then again, this is RATsun :)

also, yeah you dont have to REMOVE the chrome to paint it. just like anything all you gotta do is scuff up the surface so that paint and or primer can adhere to it.

steel wool, emery, coral, sand paper. whatever

For removing chrome from PLASTIC (like the 70-73 c-pillar vents), I have heard that heavy duty oven cleaners, like Easy Off (the heavy duty version, not the regular lemony smelling version), or Mr Muscle oven cleaner do the trick.  These are apparently very caustic, and smell bad, so wear gloves and use in a ventilated area!  Also heard there is an automotive product called Bleche-White that works well.  Good luck with the project!
