XXL
I just bought this 1968 Datsun and am looking forward to using it as my dd. It's in excellent mechanical condition-- I just need to register it and put some gas in it and I'll be driving. I have some "plans" in the back of my mind, but have to give it some time as my wife laid down the law that I wasn't allowed to cut this thing up like I do everything else I get my hands on. I've already got a "project vehicle" in the garage that I'm supposed to do my hacking on (last pic). When the time comes... I'm thinking a sturdy KA24 or SR20 motor with a big turbo on it, and 5 speed. We'll see. Quote Link to comment

XXL
I found the wiper knob stuck in a bag in the glove box. It appears to be fine... just needs a set screw to reattach. Quote Link to comment

XXL
Very very nice truck. And welcome aboard. Thanks! Is there a high beam indicator that I'm missing somewhere? I was expecting to see a small blue light somewhere in the IP, but don't see where one might even go. The only way I can tell if I'm on high or low beams is to toggle the stalk on the column. Phixius
The indicator is in the cluster above the 50mph area , Bulb might be bad. Looks like a trim carpenter owned it at one point, with that parcel tray. Quote Link to comment
zed1
Very nice. Keith Quote Link to comment
DanielC
The high beam indicator is between the 40 and the 60 on the speedometer. Quote Link to comment

boxboy
XXL--You have purchased my truck! I put a lot of love into this pickup over the course of about 2 years. If you look through the 520 threads under boxboy you will get the back story. I bought it from a guy who had no mechanical ability or understanding and most of my time was spent on getting the mechanics cleaned up and operational. You probably won't see much of me on here, because it is too painful to associate with the Datsun religion I have left behind. I loved my 520 far too much. I would be curious to know what you paid for it. Once I sold it, it changed hands about 4 different times within the course of 3 months. I even passed up the offer to buy it back for $1000 less than I sold it for! So hard to do! I spent a lot of money and time to keep this thing original and uncut. I know the J13 isn't sexy, but he alternatives other than the A series require some cutting and squeezing. That is much the reason why I will not be on here too much. To see her hacked would throw me into a depression! She is yours. Do what you have to. Have fun, and be good to her. 1 Quote Link to comment
oldskoolvws
I bought it from a guy in Portland. I'm in SF Bay area. Is that package tray not original? Do you have any details on it you can share? Not sure if boxboy built it or not. I just remember it getting built and thought it was cool. I too, am in the bay area. Livermore to be exact. XXL
I found the wiper knob stuck in a bag in the glove box. It appears to be fine... just needs a set screw to reattach. I found the set screw (which is a good thing, since it is a very odd size), so wiper knob is now on. One speed? Or is that 2 speeds (off and on)? 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
I believe the 520 is a one speed wiper, but you can put a 521 wiper motor/switch in your 520 and wire it for two speeds, slow and fast, but I have no idea how easy the wiring would be unless you put a 521 wiring harness in your 520. 1 Quote Link to comment
