DatsunHealey
Is this an id number or does it indicate that the cam came out of a 210 head? I have a u67 head and a 210 head and both cams say 'Japan 210'. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Just a casting number. A Datsun 210 cam won't fit in an L series motor. Check the canter of the cam and see if there are 1 or 2 square nubs ( best way I can describe em) 2 nubs is an L20 cam, 1 nub is a l16 or l18 cam. The l20 has better performance if that matters to you. Quote Link to comment
DatsunHealey
Its not from from a Datsun 210. I have two heads, a 210 casting from an L16 and a U67 casting from an L20B. Both cams are stamped 'Japan 210'. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
"210" is the Nissan Applied Model Code for the 1967 510 Standard. Parts with this code were originally designed for it, but may be used for other models/years too. 210 castings can be machined various ways, and does not necessarily indicate the exact part. The L20B cam is part number 13001-22000. Same as the 510 SSS twin-carb camshaft. It is 0.413" lift, 248° duration. Quote Link to comment
DatsunHealey
No nubs at all on either cam... they would have been helpful for breaking loose the cam bolt. I am installing the 210 head and have been advised to install the U67 cam. If the same casting number means they are the same cam, then i need not bother... it is possible the U67 head has had a lesser cam installed at some point. Quote Link to comment

Knowing that they start out with the same casting # and are machined differently, makes all the difference. With thanks! Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
if the cam has no nubs as you call them on it. I would assume its a L16 cam. But im not totally positive. All the L16 motors that have seen has NO nubs. after that they did like the l18s and 20s that i have seen. But I cant totally verifly this. Is it worth the swap? I persoanlly dont think so if the head is already set up to just bolt on. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
If it's a 210 casting cam it's most likely a 68-72 L16 cam, but it may be reground. Quote Link to comment
