FireFighterZach
Hey so when I fill up my 71 goon, it leaks a lot of gas, today I pulled the tank but didn't see and problem with the tank, I replaced a couple fuel hoses ( they are a HUGE bitch to get though the chassis), and making sure everything was good and tight I filled it up and it DUMPED fuel. I pulled the wheel and saw it was leaking from the two spots circled in red. My question is what are the purpose of these ports, can I delete the two side ones by linking them together( red and green)? DanielC
The extra ports are probably for a evaporative emission system. Do the hoses on the ports go to another smaller tank somewhere above the gas tank? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, they go to the expansion tank. The purpose it to keep gas fumes from escaping into the passenger compartment and into the atmosphere (evaporative emissions). Quote Link to comment
FireFighterZach
I believe your right, there is a system in the rear quarter panel inside the car. Can this whole set up be deleted? A more basic, less spots for it to leak would be great. I have looked around about deleting it but haven't found anything. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Nobody delete them, cause they work well. Just replace any rotted hoses and it will be good for the next 40 years. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The correct way is to slit the hose lengthwise and peel off. If you were pulling on the old hose you may have loosened the solder. Quote Link to comment
