jser12
Okay so I tried googling this before I wanted to start a new thread but couldnt really find anything... maybe I am just cluelessBut I have these beautiful parts shown below: 2 44mm Solex carbs and a Lynx D1600 manifold. I planned on putting this onto my freshly rebuilt L20b, with a slight bore and a more mild cam, when I break the motor in a bit. So the carbs are 44mm and where they meet up to the manifold is a 40mm inlet which would cause restrictions. when i bought these off of here it was a package deal. I guess what I want to know is that is this gonna work or am I am going to need to grind some of the manifold off to allow air to flow better? Is there different manifold that would be better suited to my setup... the manifold inlet is 40mm Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
No expert but I'd either get the proper manifold or you could port match the manifold. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
You could open up the Lynx to 44mm......smooth transition On another note.....Your Lynx D1600 looks nothing like my Lynx D1600 Quote Link to comment
jser12
Yours looks to be made specifically for SU carbs... It's definitely different. Quote Link to comment

Correct......when I bought the Lynx if had 46mm SUs 'fitted' to it. That said......the 40mm Lynx was possibly sporting different carbs when it was in Australia Dellortos.....???.......not knowing. EricJB
That Lynx manifold looks thick enough to open up. I had to open my Cannon up to 48mm. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
^^^This^^^.....is what all we 'porters' strive for............ Apparently you used a 'widjet'...?....of some sort...???.... :sneaky: Quote Link to comment
EricJB
I keep thinking we need to have a thread for porting heads/ manifolds/ match porting/ ect. For aluminum I start with this. Then go with an 80 grit flapper. These things are awesome for round ports. For tight corners I use the standard sanding rolls on a 1/8 inch mandrel. For the finish, I use an 8 inch extension with a 1/4 cotter pin that pinches cut pieces of scotchbrite. They start out about 5 inches long and get beat down to this. Be sure to use a lot of WD40 on everything. It keeps the dust down and also prevents loading up. Quote Link to comment
EricJB
Fucking photobucket. You get to the last pic and it locks up. One more. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Fucking photobucket. You get to the last pic and it locks up. One more. Nice work. You know there is a lube for cutting aluminum. I forget what it's called, but it comes in a cardboard tube like grease. It is a wax that sticks to the cutter and the tool and contains all the cut burrs as well as lubricate the tool. I'll look in the shop today for the name. Quote Link to comment
EricJB
We have a tube of that stuff at work. I cant remember what it's called either. Quote Link to comment
