im looking to purchase a couple of parts for my truck. or maybe even an entire transmission. im still waiting to hear back from the mechanic on parts numbers. i sent him a link to a diagram so he can more specifically identify the parts but he gave me descriptions, so i will post them here and then augment this posting with part numbers asap.

im looking for:

1." the throw out bearing sleeve- the clutch fork pushes against it."

im assuming the clutch fork is the withdrawal lever. so i think the name of the part i want is the sleeve release brg clutch.

2. "the throw out bearing collar extension housing-it bolts to the bell housing"

so i think that might be the dust cover for the withdrawal lever?

OR

a whole transmission for a 1971 PL521 (L16)

thanks!

rosey

You still have the 4 speed? I'll have to look and see if any of mine still have the fork, shipping from Portland to tuscon for a complete tranny would be expensive.

Not as much as you think. I had a 4x4 Toyota trans shipped from Cali to Georgia and returned the core back. We shipped it in one of those plastic walmart containers with the lid. Ours was blue, you can pick from tan, clear and even pink. Drilled holes in the cover and container for zipties. Stuffed the trans in there, ziptied the lid shut and off she went via fedex. Was like $100. Worth it in my opinion.

It was / is a Marlin Crawler Trans that now in my 4Runner.

I'm pretty sure the second part is the front cover in the bell housing.  The one with the snout that the throwout bearing sleeve rides on.  It can be pulled from the tranny without having to tear the tranny apart.

Hopefully, someone here can help. :)

What's the length of the sleeve the bearing presses onto. I've got a few in the shed that I can check.

i will have my mechanic measure and get back to you asap! he opens up in a little over an hour.

hey, so my truck is now fixed! thanks again to Tucson620 for selling me the transmission that made this possible. thanks also to everyone else who offered possible parts! not only did i get the parts i needed to get the clutch done, but my shifter now works much better! yay! i got two repairs done instead of just one. that is also thanks to my mechanic, Shawn Hammett of Hammett's Garage here in tucson. hes a really skilled and honest(!!!) mechanic who is totally down to earth and completely willing to work on vintage vehicles. gotta love that when youre able to find it! i get to pick it up today around noon and then probably straight to emissions because i had to buy a 30 day extension on my tags due to needing repairs. maybe ill wait til monday. shawn is doing a quick check this morning just to make sure its emissions ready also. oh happy day!!!!!!!!!!!
