Rasp933
WHATS UP GUYS. I GOT MY L20 REBUILT LIKE 3000 MILES AGO. THE LAST OIL CHANGE WAS 1400 MILES AGO AND I JUST HAPPENED TO ADD LIKE 8TH OF QUART OIL.I RUNNING 30W ON IT.MY QUESTION IS THAT NORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION? Quote Link to comment
Rasp933
AND ALSO WEN DO I SWITCH THE OIL TO SUMTHING DIFFERENT? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, 1 quart of oil every 11,200 miles is very very low oil usage. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
One-eight of a quart. Does that sound like a lot to you? Quote Link to comment
Rasp933
Yeah and but not sure Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
IT IS OKAY. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Oh oops I read it wrong, thought he said 8 quarts  Derp carry on. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
IT IS OKAY. Agreed Quote Link to comment
wayno
I think that if you use less than a quart of oil between oil changes(3000 miles), your doing freaking great! Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I think its miserable on a rebuilt motor if its actually burning it. Its ok if its leaking a bit of it. My sister has a car that has almost exclusively seen 10k mile changes. It burns 1 qt in 10k miles, it is now at 140k. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, the new Nissans do that. They have very tight tolerances and advanced oil control rings. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
ALL engines use oil. If you think your engine does not use oil, that is because as the oil is being used, the volume is being made up by combustion byproducts diluting your oil. That is why you change the oil on a regular basis. Quote Link to comment

Like ggzilla said, if this guy is burning 1/8th quart in 1400 miles, that's 1 quart in 11200 miles - better than your sister! ;) ALL engines use oil.If you think your engine does not use oil, that is because as the oil is being used, the volume is being made up by combustion byproducts diluting your oil.
