bmacster
A few noobastic questions... With the 4x4 system on the 720, you have to be stopped to put in 4H, get out, lock the diffs, right? Mine does not have auto locking diffs. Is there a maximum speed in 4H and 4L? (I don't have the owners manual) Is it normal for the truck to pull/torque steer hard under acceleration? And with the billions of different topics, is there a preferred gear oil for the diffs, transfer case, and the transmission? All of it is GL-4 gear oil, correct? Sorry for all the questions, trying to get as much as of thing done so I can get my main vehicle in the garage and the motor pulled. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Lock the hubs in when need be.....then select 4H or 4L 4L would be good till about 20ish MPH (MAX)........... always come to a complete stop when selecting 4L My manual hubs are pretty much locked in 4 months out of the year....and sometimes shift (on the fly) into 4H at 50+ on the highway....no issues....>..<....Winter driving conditions of course. Bare roads....unlock hubs GL-5 in diffs..........Auto hubs suck Never run split boots......fresh CV grease is a plus I have the 4x4 'running specs' on my sun visors......I'll have a look Quote Link to comment
bmacster
Thanks for the reply! My transfer case grinds when I try to put it in 4H on the fly. I do need to replace the clutch slave cylinder though. And that looks like fun in that picture there! Quote Link to comment

Has nothing to do with the slave.......transfer case should not grind shifting on the fly into 4H. Transfer case will grind when hubs are not engaged Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
If you are in 4 wheel drive, the answer is yes. :) A few noobastic questions... Is it normal for the truck to pull/torque steer hard under acceleration? Quote Link to comment
bmacster
Picked up an owners manual on CL for a whopping $5. Only had a dead bug in it, otherwise it was in great shape. =D Quote Link to comment
