GOONS check in

Recommended Posts

Here's my 'Goon...affectionately known as "Blanca". I posted pics when I first got her a couple years ago but they got deleted. She's pretty bone stock...inside/out but I have plans to install a 5 speed tranny & beefed up L16 that's sitting in the garage for now. So hard to be patient but I'm amassing parts/accessories like coffin handles, roof rack, Libres & new rubber parts in anticipation of the day I can send it over to the paintshop & have everything installed at once. Anyone got a stainless steel roof rack they'd like to part with? I've got one that's o-k-a-y...but it's got the fake wood grain on it & it's not my ideal.

I LOVE THIS CAR!

MyWagon.jpg When you repaint your goon are you going to keep the vinyl top?  I think it looks awsome with the vinyl top.

After owning my 'Goon for about 6 yrs now & really getting to know & appreciate her, I've decided not to paint her (even though she's had on respray from PO on a few panels already). She's in the shop now getting as-close-to-stock-looking medium metallic blue vinyl interior redone on front & rear seats & a new headliner installed. I will post some before/after oics as soon as she's done.

Trying to get the gas tank stuff together to install the tank on the Goon. Took off the old hoses to get some new and figure size and how long they have to be. Gotta get this Goon running again.

Well I now know what size to get, just have to get enough to do it now.

Also gotta figure out a sending unit for the Goon and Sedans.

Any suggestions on new hoses for the gas tank on a Goon. I need suggestions on replacing all the hoses for the gas tank on my Goon. The large ones I need something gas resistant.

I did this.....

I cut the existing hose back a little to fit the spacer in.......

.....then heated up the hose...becuz it felt like PCV pipe...to give it some flex and stretch it over my 2" pipe......

I did almost the same thing.

I managed to find a JY donor that was perfect, until I snapped 1 of the 3 mounting studs.

RV stores were a good source for large ID fuel safe hose.

Oreillys can order it too but it's not very flexible straight stuff.

Look what I found inside a 610 I purchased... the elusive factory 510 wagon locking gas cap.. I was stoked!

I just sat it in place, I need a key & fix a broken tab that comes out when you lock it.
