d510addict
I am looking for that fat elbow hose/fitting that allows the air from the heater box to flow to the vents, I am not sure what it is called but mine is done. I am attempting to slather it in poly caulking to extend its life for a bit longer but the thing is rotted beyond real repair. Does anyone know where I might find one new or in good used condition? Didnt see it on rock auto or via google browsing. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Do you mean the rubber boot between the air diverter box, and the front of the heater? Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
this kind of stuff? Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
for a 521 you might have a hard time finding some for less than pricey if you find any at all you might be able to get crafty in-order to achieve the purpose of the vent tubes Quote Link to comment
d510addict
Yes the rubber boot, I am literally (paper macheing) mine together with duct tape and black caulk and I think I bought the wrong stuff as it isnt the right consitency. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
That's it. Which vehicle can you get those outta? Quote Link to comment
wayno
520 and 521 is it as far as I know. That part actually diverts the air from outside into the heater, the heater will still pump the air to the defrosters with the fan, but without this part, cold air goes into the cab all the time instead of the heater, as until today I didn't have one in the work truck, and that trip to alburn yesterday was a cold trip. DanielC
I might have a extra one, do not know until I look. This is one of those parts made of rubber, and deteriorates over the years. If I was faced with the option of having to repair one, I think I would try to use cement for patching tire innertubes, and pieced of rubber cut out of innertubes, for cars, maybe wheel barrels, or bicycle innertubes. MikeRL411
A far out option might be to take what remains to a plumbing and heating shop and see if an old timer there would be willing to cut, shape and solder up a sheet metal replacement. Might be pricey but then would outlast the rest of the truck. Installers for clothes dryers have to fabricate adapters to fit dryer vent holes to the almost infinite variety of ducting existing in laundry rooms. That might be another option.
