Smog Legal Weber

I have a hitachi carb thats going to die on me soon. What options are out there for CA Smog legal Weber carbs. I have a 1980 Datsun pickup with the L20B motor.

I don't believe there are any. At one time the Weber 34DFT was allowed, but it had to have the CARB certification tag as part of a retrofit kit. The 34DFT has been out of production for 15-20 years.

Mike Klotz showed how to put the stock aircleaner asseble on a weber DGV to look stock

 

Only thing is the weber might raise the aircleaner to hit the hood depending on how thick the carb adapter is.

 

maybe Rockauto.com has rebuilt carbs

Redline Weber sells CA legal 32/36 kits for B210 & 260Z

 

So maybe check with them

I looked up the CARB reference. 1980 720s are allowed to use the Redline Weber 32/34 DFT 9A under Executive Order D-133-1. The allowed kit is Redline K8666. Which they don't list anymore. But to be legal it would have to have the CARB tag with K8666 and list the D-133-1 EO.

This is one of those items you may have to search for a while. I see they pop up about every two to three months.

 

If it was me, I'd invest in a real good carb setup, whatever floats your boat. Put it on, rebuild the Hitachi and change it out each smog test. Nothing more than some elbow grease and a few gaskets.
