Not to mention getting a fender munched by some moron before Christmas. Crappy street parking :( I can recommend the guy who did my yellow truck. He totally brought back the driver side fender. Even if you get a replacement fender, he can do great work in paint if you need it. 1 Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Like the mirror. It gives it a little bling of class! Eyeballin' the fire extingusher as well, cause I'm definately using one in my truck. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I got a GM Monte Carlo one for free that mounts on the glass. It dims and has two working map reading lights. 1 Quote Link to comment
Angela
Cheaper on this one :) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Vintage-Sports-Car-Roadster-Coupe-Stainless-Steel-Inside-Rear-View-Mirror-/351266319806?hash=item51c91aadbe:g:5PoAAOSwg3FUng6H&vxp=mtr Thanks Matt! I just ordered one today using your link. I wonder if tinting the back window will reduce the reflection issue in the rear view mirror. 2 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I took a round file to some sharp edges of the mount that clamps to the stock mount ball, so that they don't gouge the relatively soft aluminum ball. You might do this too 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Side mirrors are only supposed to reflect 80% of light I imagine rear view are at least this amount. Only way to increase the effect is a day/night mirror from a newer Datsun. Maybe 280 or 280zx? Maxima? 1 Quote Link to comment

Not sure if I need to file mine down yet but I'll take a closer look tomorrow. Thanks again for the quick mod idea, 1 Quote Link to comment
Zonargx
Does anyone have or know where I can get a rear view mirror for my 71 521 because when I bought the truck it didn’t have one. I can see where it was screwed onto the top of the roof and I have bought and after market one that you glue on the windshield and it does not stay on. The button and mirrors keeps falling off once I start to adjust to my preference. I attempted if 4 times and it keeps falling off. so if I can just basically get something I can crew to we’re the original was or get the rod part that goes into the roof that be nice. It’s driving me crazy not being able to see the back unless I turn all the way to look Edited August 8, 2020 by Zonargx 1 Quote Link to comment

They do pop up on ebay every so often, but I haven't seen any lately and they were not cheap.. I had the same on my truck, I was missing the rearview..... I'm surprised the glued on one didnt work, ... I have had mine glued to my windshield for over 3 years with no issue... 2 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
The stalk should be fairly easy to find. The OEM mirror housings fall apart from UV & heat. There are alternative housings that use the same 1/2" ball mount, but I don't know off hand from what model vehicles. 1 Quote Link to comment
Zonargx
@Crashtd420 where exactly did you glue it I glued it at the center about 2 inches from the top Quote Link to comment
Zonargx
@thisismatt I tried looking for just the stalk and no luck I was thinking of just using like a 620 stalk and make a bracket to make it sit into the roof but I feel like it’s gonna make it look bad Quote Link to comment

wayno
I have a stock that needs a little cleaning and painting if desired, but you will still need a mirror, PM me if your interested. Zonargx
Does anyone by any chance knows what the screw size is for the stalk on the 521 Quote Link to comment
wayno
I sent what I believe is one mount screw with it(in the bag the mirror mount was in), it is dirty/rusty, so clean it up before test fitting it in one of your mount holes, use some kind of lubricant on it also. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
The screws that hold the mirror bracket on the cab roof are #10-32 thread. The original screws were chrome plated. You can get #10-32 oval head machine screws in stainless steel. Chase the threads with a #10-32 tap, and then when you put the screws in very lightly grease them. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Pretty sure it's a 10-32 oval head. Edited August 8, 2020 by thisismatt 1 Quote Link to comment
