soo i want to lower my 78 KC even more, and i wanna know what the easiest/ cheapest way is. its already lowered on what looks like to be 2-3 inch blocks (dont know for sure havnt measured them) and i suspect its already missing leaf springs (its only got 3 per side on the back axle, 6 total on the truck)

and now all the tailight wiring is fixed and all tucked up and nice and neat. and the i took off my Marine bumper magnet and put stickers on the windows haha

hey man, were you at the mac meet awhile back? and get some 720 4x4 leaf springs, they bolt right on and lower it more

yeah i was, and how do they lower it more? how may leafs are run on each side of the axle with those? and are you the guy with the sick 521?? the red one that is

720 4x4 leafs have less arch then stock 620 leafs.

 

I have them on my 620 and want to say that they equal about 1.5 to 2'' drop over stock leafs.

Got mine At The JY For $17

I Flipped A Spring And Added Another Spring From The Original 620 Pack For Moar Stiff

720 (I Think It Is 4X4 Only) Alone Lower The Truck 1.5"

They Also Provide A Smoother Ride (Somewhat Like Cutting Springs)

Whitch Is The Opposite Of What You Want When Lowering

Mixed/Flipped Springs Lowered Mine 5"

You Will Want Shorter Shocks And Knotching The Frame With A Pipe Or Z

Depending On How Much You Want To Lower The Truck

Also Keep In Mind That Your Pinion Angle Will Change

You Will Have To Go To A Rearend Shop

So They Can Get You Proper Shims To Correct This

Or You Can Get A Single Piece Driveshaft :)

okay thanx. mines already about 2.5- 3inches low, but if i flare out the fenders the slight wheel gap is gonna increase so i would wanna lower it more. so basically if i get the 720 leafs with the 3(ish) inch lowering blocks i already have, it will sit about 4.5-5inches lower than stock? and what do i do the front to lower it?

Turn The Torsion Bar 2 Teeth

Since You Have A 78 You Can Simply Lower The Shock Mounting Pos. 2"

Or You Can Raise The Shock Towers Same Thing Either Way

I Used Diplomat Shocks Which Are Almost 3" Shorter

Low Profile Bumpstops

This Is About 4"

It Can Go 2" More But I Will Need Different Wheels To Turn

 

Also Get An Alignment Done After This

Only Way To Cure That Problem For Good Is To Get A Single Piece Driveshaft Made

Can you tell us more about the diplomat shocks? These must be for the rear? What year diplomat?

A part number would be nice. I already have 78+ lower arms.

 

Reason i ask is because there is not a front shock that is 3" shorter. They simply dont exist. I was hoping maybe you were talking 3" shorter for the rear.

This Is For The Front I Think They Are 1.5" Shorter

But By The Time You Install Them It Ends Up Beign 3"

You Just Remove The Stock Mount And Drill A Bigger Hole

3-4inch blocks in back. $35 at oreillys

remove all leafs accept main leaf and the small overload leaf.

 

turn down tortion bars all the way... if fronts still a lil high (shouldnt be with 3 inch blocks in back) reindex your tortion bars,

heres an old truck with 4inch blocks and lowered same way, but i hadnt finished turning down front all the way. this truck was also notched and it would have hit frame alot on bumps if it wasnt...

also pinion angle shims are good for keeping you from burning through u joints, (see above photo) for some really good pointers talk to farmer joe on here. he is static drop jesus.
