crossbars/roof racks on a 280zx?

what are your thoughts,

i know roof racks normally go on wagons, but im turning this car into my budget ratrod daily driver and trying to get a little ridiculous.

im thinking just cross bars instead of a safari rack.

 

im not going to drive around with a bike rack on it all the time but i will build an attachment, for now i just want to weld up some cros bars similar to this car.

i like this shape but i want to just weld square tubing, what do you guys think?

I would imagine that you should keep all these questions inside your build thread... thats what its really for. Maybe thats just me though.

my opinion is dont do it but i personally hate roof racks unless its on a 4x4

Get yourself some cracked or otherwise cheap T-Tops and replace glass with thin sheet metal and weld stanchions to them.. Then just make a cool rack that bolts to them..

Ever see a Corvette with a roof rack????? It can be done, but no self respecting owner would do it. It simply isn't done.... like socks and sandals, like jeans tucked into cowboy boots, like a mullet at a mud bog, like.... wait!

that was a really good idea though, to have a metal pair welded together so i can take the rack on and off. then i could load my bike at ground level and lift it and mount onto the car.
