WTB: 521 Throttle cable...

Recommended Posts

Well, I had an exciting drive home.

Throttle cable snapped on the drive home.

Ended up driving home with a zip tie and a shoelace tied to the carb and through the wing mirror.

Does anyone have a 521 or 620 throttle cable?

I'm in North San Diego county, but i can pay for shipping from anywhere in the states.

Thanks guys/gals!

Ben

Sweet job getting home! Were you blipping the throttle on down shifts?

haha thanks.

and no, it wasn't exactly smooth sailing - the shoelace was kind of stretchy, so there would be a delay when i pulled it, and then it would race to 5k rpms haha.

I sent you a used one, if you can get a new one for $30.00, I would buy it, then you would have an extra in case this happens again.

BTW, I would lube the one I sent you, I just went out to the parts tub, and found one that wasn't binding with no frayed wires, put it in a box and shipped it.

I think I have broke a couple of them over the last 10-15 years.

Good job Mcgyver. We had to do that about 30 yrs ago with a big block Chevelle. It broke right in front of a hardware store, in the dark /rain, and all we had $$ for was weed wacker line. Not sure how we lived through that car.
