Looking for an Alternator Mount

Hey guys, wondering if you have any recommendations on where to find an Alt. Mount for a B210 (A15) '79? The pin has sheared off inside so there doesn't appear to be any way of getting it out... any body have the same experience?

just pull yours off, drill a smaller hole in the center of the broken bolt. get your self an "easy out" and remove your broke off bolt.

Or drill all the way through and just use one long bolt with a nut on the end. :thumbup:

Yep, use an easy-out. Or remove the mount and slowy drive the bolt counter-clockwise with a chisel point.

 

The mounts are common if you are near a wrecking yard.

i think df has the right idea here, i hate the way its set up. i had one snap off too, but easy enough i had a back-up motor i grabbed a replacement from

I've had a ton of them snap on me. The curse of the heavier "upgrade" alternators. Oversized hole with one long bolt is a nice fix. :thumbup:

Side note: One fix that doesn't involve an easy-out is one I've done many times. If you have a Dremel (and the bolt shaft isn't seized in the hole), you can cut a slot in the broken bolt and turn it out with a screwdriver. :thumbup:

Hey guys thanks for the tips! I've heard that easy-outs are easy to break off in the hole? Would a left handed drill bit, which is harder be a better idea for someone with no experience? Both bolts are sheared so I'm tempted to just take it to a machinist and have it bored out and do the single long bolt...

take it to a machne shop and have them do it for 10$ and buy a spare mounta also. I believe the ealry carfs used the samller bolts and they shear off like the early L16 bolts. esp on lowered cars riding on the bump stops
