Can't pull it apart

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how to get the rear end of a 810 appart? Is it just a mater of pulling the axle's out first, then remove the front of the pumpkin?

I tried pulling on the axles, but they are not moving, wanted to ask before I broke something.

Thanks,

W

Wagon.

Unbolt the 4 bolts on the back side of brakes/backing plate.

BOOM!

This above.

Drain differential.

Probably you will have to disconnect the hydraulic brake lines and the E brake cables to allow enough lateral movement to pull the axles out enough to disengage the differential.

Mark the relation of the drive shaft to the yoke on the differential so it can be assembled the same way. If replacing the diff. don't worry about it. Remove driveshaft and tie out of way. Remove the 8? nuts holding the diff to the housing and slide forward off the studs. It's heavy so be ready for it.

If you have the bolts all loose at the backing plate, you can try what I do on my 510 wagon rear ends. Tie some heavy rope around the axle end, leave about 18" of slack and the tie the other end around the end of a sledge hammer. then carefully swing the hammer away from the axle to pull the axle loose. Sort of like a slide hammer effect. I've done this on both my 510 wagon rear ends and it worked great, just don't "knee cap" yourself in the process.
