socaldatsun
Heyguys, so I just got all new heim joints for the front end but when I put away idle arm away in storage I had twisted it in all the way in. I was woundering if there is a number of turns that it should be at? I also wanted to know if anybody knew if the 521 and the 620 steering box is interchangeable. when I took apart the truck I couldnt figure out how to take the steering column out but long story short all the berings are loose inside the steering box and would have to be rebuilt. datzenmike
The 521/620 steering column and box are one piece. I took a 620 apart once, big mistake. I did get it together again. (you don't have to rebuild it, just assemble properly) I don't know if they are the same as the 521, they sure look the same. Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
ill check it out the next time I go to the junk yard, read in both of my hand books for my truck and none of them said anything about adjustments to the idler arm. I'm guessing aslong as it is able to do its full turn it will be ok? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The idler arm should only turn side to side. If you can force it up and down the bushings are worn. What would need heim joints on a 521? Tension rods maybe? Quote Link to comment
socaldatsun
Well as I twist the idler arm it will unscrew out. I have the outer tie rods and the center link done. The center link was because I needed to flip it to clear the oil pan and the tie rods just cause I was already there. lol I still havent found any answer to see if a 620 gear box will work on the 521. any way to find out other then just buying one and seeing if it fit?
