KFunk740
Steering got a little stiff the other day, so time to get out the grease gun. I want to make sure I'm not missing any, since they might be buried in grime, and I'm not that familiar with these truck suspensions. There are a total of 7 per side on the front that I've been getting, I think. One at the top and the bottom of the kingpin. One at the outer tie rod end. One at the inner tie rod end. One at the end of the center link. Two at each side near the top of the shock (not sure what that suspension arm is called). Are there any more on the front? Is there one on the pittman arm or idler arm? If there is, then I can't find it. Any in the rear? The only ones I can find back there are on the emergency brake cables on at each side. Any in other random places? How often do you guys grease them? Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
Conner
Here's the page I found from the owner's manual. Sounds like you got them all. The manual says to do it every 1k miles or every two weeks. Seems like a lot. Quote Link to comment
KFunk740
Thanks! I forgot to mention #4 there. I got the one on the front, but maybe I forgot the one on the rear? I'm gonna run out and look for it. Quote Link to comment
KFunk740
Yeah, no luck finding the rear nipple for #4. Just looks like a huge hex head there with grime on it. I don't think its enough grime to hide a grease nipple, though. Quote Link to comment
wayno
There is also one on the idler arm, it's on the engine side in the middle. Quote Link to comment
KFunk740
Ah ha, thanks Wayno! Knew I had to be forgetting one. Think I found it last time around, but missed it tonight. Good thing you told me. Quote Link to comment
Conner
And it's not the suspension but I think there are a couple more--one on the e-brake cable linkage mid-way back and one on the emergency brake cable a little forward of that point. Quote Link to comment
