bloodontheapex
Don't listen to anyone who says that the Volvo 240 is unbreakable. I have broken many of them. Most bits on a 240 are pretty bullet proof. You got to take care of them, like any car. I wouldn't say they have too much going for them over a japanese import of the same caliber, except the Volvo won't crumple like a tin can upon impact Watch out for the wiring harness, they like to disintergrate up until about 1988. 83 and 84 seem to be the worst years for wiring harnesses. K-jet can be a bitch on the ealry cars (1976-1982). The Turbo K-jet cars are pretty well sorted, but it's pretty impossible to do anything on an early NA engine without taking god damn everything off of it. I can answer some questions, if you want. I am by no means an expert, but I have had many, many Volvos. I know guys who can answer questions that I can't. 240s, especially the Turbos, make great beaters. I have tons of parts, if you need anything. Pictures (Everyone loves them)! My first Volvo. A 1984 242. Had the B23F. 2.3 Litres, 10.3:1 compression. Awful car, never would run right. First failed project. Cost my $600. Curshed. 1979 Volvo 262C Bertone. Special model, ~6000 produced world wide. Bought for parts. Used the same engine as the DeLorean. Cost me $400. Crushed. 1982 244 Turbo. Looked great in the pictures the PO sent me. Was going to fix it up. When I saw its condition in person, I decided it would make a better parts car. Cost me $500. Crushed. 1983 245 Turbo. Had a home-made intercooler kit on it and the boost cranked up to 10 psi. The charge pipe was just bent up exhaust pipe. Was tons of fun, but leaked oil and transmission fluid from everywhere and was hit by a deer (that, judging by the damage, was probably a truck). Hated the cold. 0-60 in ten seconds in a 4000 pound station wagon. Cost me $1200. Traded it for my current beater. This is my daily beater right now. 1981 242. I hate this car. haha. It has endless idling issues from the Cali spec CIS system. I ended up just disabling the Constant Idle and tricking the car into thinking my foot is always on the gas just a tiny bit. Drives okay. Better suspension than the old wagon. Breaks and steering are shit. Makes the 60 mile commute daily with no complaints though. PO made that roof rack. It's an awful, hideous thing. He also cut the front springs and left the back ones alone. Quote Link to comment

bloodontheapex
If anyone needs 240 parts, I'm cleaning out what I've got left. It's cheap, what I can't get rid of is getting thrown away/going to the scrap yard. Email at trptrptrptrptrp@gmail.com. Quote Link to comment
