DREWSDIME
I have a distributor from a Nissan hard body with V6 carb VG30 . What is the difference between this and the Saudi VG30 dist? Can this still be used for VG with carb swap? Quote Link to comment
wildmaninid
Didn't all vg30's have efi, just that one was throttle body and one was mpfi? Quote Link to comment
DREWSDIME
I know for sure some early Nissan hard body XE models came with VG30's that are carbuerated, I dont think they had fuel injected carb setup? The truck i pulled this off of was a hard body with this setup. Quote Link to comment
wildmaninid
That would be new to me......the tbi ones had a carburetor-looking air filter housing, with 2 wingnuts and the clamps around the side, but there should be a sticker on it that says electro-injection. 86.5 hardbodies through 89 had that style of efi, before they went to mpfi. DREWSDIME
I see air filter was painted black I was assuming it was carb motor. So basically its the same dist as one from a VG30 from a 300ZX? Quote Link to comment
wildmaninid
Hollander interchange shows vg30 distributors to fit 86.5-89 and then 90-97. All vg's were efi, just the earlier ones were throttle body. Quote Link to comment
wildmaninid
Maxima, pathfinder, hardbody. The 300zx shows no interchange... Quote Link to comment
DREWSDIME
Thank you for the help. Quote Link to comment
wildmaninid
Oh yeah. I mean I can't tell you the specifics of why the interchange is different etc.....I did have an 86.5 hardbody vg30 auto pickup that I swapped in a 91 pathfinder vg30 5 speed. The original motor was tbi and the replacement was mpfi. Quote Link to comment
qwik510
Wild Man is correct. We did not get a carb'd VG30 here in the states. The early trucks had a Throttle Body style fuel injection. Those Saudi's were lucky. Quote Link to comment
carterb
This wiki is pretty good http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_VG_engine Quote Link to comment
