JohnVander
Is it streetable without race gas? What kind of power do you think it puts out? What would you do with it? I haven't put it in my 1200 because I'm sorting every other possible issue, but now that the suspension improved I'm thinking of doing the engine bay and putting this in. It doesn't have carbs so? Bike carbs? Single side draft? Su's? Mukuni's? Webbers? Anybody have something for sale? I have a redline dual carb manifold. I'd love some input. A-15 .080 over 11:1 compression 279 duration cam (232@.050) and .460" lift The cam is installed straight up and is ground on a 106 intake centerline with a 108 lobe center ported/polished A-15 head oversize valves (40mm intake and 32mm ex) Nismo Header MSN 6A Ignition Box Elec. Ignition Carbs sold before I got the motor, it seem like they were too much for the motor however. Redline Intake with a couple 40 mm DCOEs 30 venturihttp: 45F9 IDLE JET 130F11 MAINS 50 ACC JET JE full floting forged pistons in the engine and I can provide those specs to you if I can dig up the spec sheet that came with them. The engine has ARP head and main studs along with ARP rod bolts. The engine was balanced. Installed a tilton 10 lb aluminum flywheel with a centerforce clutch I guess it has about 17K since the build. Here's a video of it running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94r3CxFfOls&feature=player_detailpage A picture: Some bike carb porn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P75EN4dvgE&feature=player_detailpage Quote Link to comment

Didn't he say this was a 1.9L? Are you going to go sidedrafts again or downdraft? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Sidedrafts are the only way to go on this 1 Quote Link to comment
JohnVander
I don't think it's 1.9, it's bored .80 over so what ever that makes it. Dual side drafts mean brake booster delete or relocation so I'm leery of jumping into that ($$$). I love the sound of bike carbs, and want to go that way, but I need to learn more about the motor before I charge in with those. These guys have me seriously thinking Mukuni http://www.v-perform...ml#mikuni_carbs and are where the smart money is unless I can find something used and workable here. John Quote Link to comment
JohnVander
My sedan scoots nicely with a stock a14, I can't imagine what it would drive like with this in it. And yeah, I'm gonna need a new rear end too. I need wheels. Anybody in the Seattle area want to trade wheels (13's), a rear end (what ever won't brake, lsd?), or carbs for tree work (experienced and insured of course)? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
going to a down draft weber is NOT going to cut it with a motor like this. you need a barrel for each cylinder. I hqve 40mm dual Mikunis on a L 16 motor and I went with a down draft for about 1 trip around the neihboorhood and put the duals back on. It was a 50% drop in power. It has a cam and match port also. But think a L20 with a down draft would pull better. this motor Im guessing maybe 85Hp to the wheels. Just a guess Quote Link to comment

rusty12ver
40mm mikuni's would be a nice choice. Dave at Rebello racing would be a good place to start, he could tell you a good starting point on jets and chokes and such. If you plan on doing carbs. Quote Link to comment

John Please see the original thread here: http://community.rat...ranny-for-sale/ KA-Datsun was claiming to have it stroked to 1890cc which seemed a little to good to be true B). I really was seriously interested in buying this engine I just couldn't figure out how to get it down to Cali... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
A larger displacement motor will pull harder (torqu) at lower RPMs without having to be built up. The smaller the displacement the harder and higher it has to rev to do the same thing. This leaves the idle to 3-4K range lacking, with a sudden power ON at high revs. Most driving is done in the idle to 3K range so I would think this engine won't be much fun around town. This would be a summer motor. You could run all year but you won't like it much when it gets cold. With a 10 pound flywheel run 4.11 or 4.375 rear end to ease the take offs and keep the revs up. My 10.5 compression Dart back in '70 would run on premium gas just fine. Gas isn't leaded now so I don't know if it will run ok at 11 to one. 1 Quote Link to comment
