edekalil
That's pretty dope!! Never seen that. Where'd you find that?I know I bought the tack over 15 years ago the speedo and temp fuel gage setup might have been in a 4 door car I got from some fella who ragged and wrecked it or it was in a 2 door I have all apart and plan to get on after I get the wagon up now that the other 2 sedans are up and running. I should have more room in the garage at that time. I started reading at the start of this thread and your car reminds me of the 70/510 I got from this old lady I talked to for 15 or 20 years befor she called me about selling it. ( got it for $300.). I may just lower my 72/510 sedan , all these lowered cars are bringing back all the old desires of wanting to lower it way back when I only had 1 510 the 72 my first got it back in 79. INDY510
go really slow welding .. to avoid warping the metal, or melting your stock paint off. 1 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
How slow? Like, tack and wait 5 minutes, tack wait 5 minures? Quote Link to comment
Draker
Tack, go to the other side of the metal, tack. Keep even spacing around the metal. Use compressed air to cool if you need to. With the location you are welding, there are a lot of bends. It's less of an issue than welding in the middle of a quarter panel. 4 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Gotcha. Thx for the tips. Quote Link to comment
jrock4224
draker is right theres lots f strength there but still the slower u go maybe u won burn he exterior paint but more then likely u will thats super close to the lips ... 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
You can also soak a cloth in water and set that against the metal near your welding. It will act as a heat sink. 1 Quote Link to comment
INDY510
Don't do two consecutive tacks, right next to each other, on the fender lip side. If it gets too hot it will burn holes. So do 2 or 3 tacks, a few inches from each other, then move to the other side of the car. But I'm no welding expert .. 1 Quote Link to comment
