Like Comic Artist I too were having problems from my DC2 Coilovers and i think we both can agree on this: They don't work for the Z.

So it was time to shop for new coil overs again but something helluva lot more reliable.

After some deep, deep digging I was able to find a set of coilovers that fit my needs. Not many people in the U.S know of UPgarage, but if you do, you know they have some pretty dope shtuff also apparently Upgarage coilovers are just rebranded JIC coil overs.

So after reminiscing about riding with some few friends cars that had JIC's and at the price these were listed for, I simply couldn't pass it up. It was time to take the lame DC2 shit coil overs out.

After dropping my spindles off to Marcus Fry (Marcus Fry Enterprises) they were ready to be put in after getting day pretty weldz :)

Im tucking 16's in the back :). The front is another story though since  i haven't cranked that camber yet nor put my t3 top hats on yet,  I have  not decided what to do about the front fitment. The best part was for the rear the S13 top hats fit right in just by drilling two holes for the studs which i already had done from the DC2.

Also just to catch up on whats been done. I found some MSA headers on ebay for a ridiculous price.

Other than that the Z has been chilling and waiting for me. Unfortunately buying coil overs again set me back as I was planning on buying a fuel cell, radiator,  rear arms and floor pans among other parts which now will be put on hold. You live and learn right?

So thats it for the time being. Good news is I finally have my own laptop so I will be able to update helluva a lot more since my IPAD started crashing way too often. Till next time.

BTW:

They are for an S13.

I attended an event this past weekend with stupid fast and a buddy for the weekend. The car felt great other than a great deal of understeer on the left hand sweeper. The up garage coil overs feel WORLDS better than those shit DC2 coil overs.

I now the difference between using new tires and used tires now....and I'm liking new tires much more predictable ,actually gain speed and make cool smoke at times. I have parts waiting to be put on like replacing my bent crossmember, replacing my passenger side mangled LCA bushing, new motor mounts, oil/temp gauge, and plan on getting some other things till the next event this month.

With the up garage coil overs though my spin weeks only fit upfront now that the bigger collars touch the wheels. My next purchases will be spacers all around, rear t3 camber plates, fiberglass dashboard, and a few small things here and there before I can finally make this thing start looking sexy.. So thats it for now. Kbai

Well after the last drift event it was time to make some purchase!. So for starters i needed some rear camber  plates for easier slides (they're megans if your wondering) and some camber for the rear. Next was to fit my mechanical gauges with SS lines and AN fittings. The biggest upgrade  is my Hydraulic brake, though I'm going to be running an inline setup rather than dual calipers like i originally wanted to for time restraints.

After the drive with the new coil overs it was very apparent that the front was too stiff at the full "Hard" setting, so next time I'll turn them down a bit since every bump was whipping the wheel right out of my hand making me lose drifts and understeer big time. Another big thing is replacing my crossmember that got bent last year during a street session which ended a cross member being bent, tension rod bent, sway bar bent, tension rod mount almost torn out the car, and a broken motor mount among other things (fucking dc2 coil overs). Luckily I been collecting and waiting for a time where I had all things in my possession so I can do it in one full swoop with new motor mounts, coils, crossmember, and other things that can now be taken care of.

Trying some S14 side skirts and cutting them to shape to see how they can help in a cosmetic way that I have in mind. At this point in time, its not close to where I want so it will be put on hold till later time. Also with the new coil overs my rear wheels rub the coil overs collar and my fronts rubs the frame rail at full lock (before coil overs), hopefully some 15-25mm spacers will help with that though fender clearance for the front and back will be a problem.

Other than replacing bushings, welding in the rear plates, new front tires, cutting the rear quarters and some miscelaneous tidbits, the car has been good to me for the time being. I have a short laundry list before round 2 comes up on the 22nd that  I will be posting my progress as the days grow nearer to next eventt. Until next time.

So got to bandage some stuff up finally. Starting with...

10300785_10152481928289976_8244499106752

Motor mounts. After my incident some time ago the motor shifted forward and pulled the rubber out of the mount.

Along with those mounts it was time for replacement of the front crossmember. Needed replacement since I had to rip the control bolt out and it was bent from when the tension rod got turned into a boomerang.

10382246_10152481927289976_3979159477826

From the tram of the tension rod bending into an L shape it almost pushed the tension rod mount out of the frame rail. I then used a scissor jack between the rail and the motor to push the mount back (remember this was some time ago). Now looking re-evaluating  my action its now obvious I need adjustable tension rods since I may have pushed the mount too far forward since the control is pushed a little far forward and creates a pain to push back into the crossmember.

After ripping the bolt out and welding......I got lazy and had my friend weld the member with the bushing in and the result was obvious.. So replaced my bushing (although they sent the wrong ones).

I have been getting some request for pictures of my extended tie rods...here you go, the top it the passenger and bottom is the driver side.

Thing is it seems that my knuckle may be bent after eyeballing them on the lift...

Round 2 of the Boost Series is this sunday hence why I'm doing such repairs and replacing. The front kept getting massive under steer, oversteer out the corner, and then the rear end would come out. So did all i can to correct that along with some 195/50/16 Federal 595's which pushing them a little guide me in the right direction a lot better.

I have some more stuff in the works but I won't go into it until its actually done.... Till then stay sexy.

The event went great and I learned a lot from the car. Hydro is working a lot better now after tapping it to the "T" in the hardline to the rear brakes. Wish I had the gopro on me because I had some awesome tandems with everybody and even gave my friend a love punch. Drifting wise I'll be taking a break to focus on other aspects of the car like figuring why my coil wire is getting hot, put the fuel cell in and reroute my fuel lines to the carbs, and to figure out if I want a 4-6 point cage. I'll post up progress pics when I get to it!

at the moment theres no updates to report. At this point our team has decided on two colors that we are all going to paint our cars. Im looking to sell my wheels for a new set, making an "aero kit" for the car, thinking about a cam, 4pt cage and some other stuff. This Z will be looking quite different by the end of winter/spring.
