24 HOURS OF LEMONS BUILD PROJECT!!!!

I recently picked up a 1978 Datsun B210ZX w/ an F.E.D Bodykit from a seller off Craigslist in DFW....

The car is in good shape (minus motor, tranny, & drive shaft)

I am looking for more information on the ZX model & the FED body kit option....

This is what I've found so far:

I'd also be intersted in possible engine swap options and/or recommendations from the Ratsun crowd...

My plan is to turn this into a full blown road race track car that will compete in the 24 Hours of LeMons racing events...

Thanks,

Yeah that's an interesting kit. I love the sales pitch in the original ad. I think you will fit right in with 24 hours of lemons. Maybe a KA24 swap will help you be competitive? Pretty cheap, not sure how easy to swap in tho.

KA24DE swap is what I had in mind... I've had two S13 240sx so I am very familar with the KA motor... and you can pick up motor tranny cheap...

I personally have NEVER seen a B210 with this body kit... I'll keep you guys posted on progress...

VG30?... will that even fit into a B210?... I've found some of the KA24 truck motors locally... just need to find the right combo including a 5speed

As for the wheels & suspension... I want to drop motor & tranny in 1st,... then look into updating suspension & wheels...

This is strictly going to be a track car... and here is my inspiration for this project....

Hmmm, at first I was thinking it was but ugly but on second thought I think there is potential. IMO your best bet is to go 70's-80's retro racing with it, add a big ass chin splitter to straigthen out the side profile and scrape the ground, mount a big ass whale tail, some deep dish wheels, and a BRE IMSA inspired paint job and people will be all over your jock.

I thought about doing FUGLY up to look like a vintage BRE racer,... but I'm not so sure... I love the classic look,.. but may go for something a little more extreme...

I personally love the DTM look from the 70's... fat chin spoiler,.. HUGE rear spoiler,.. BIG hips.... slammed to the ground... should be fun!!!

Looks like FUGLY has been getting some press online at:

... build to race in LeMons... or restore to glory.... why not do both!

Ahhhhh...let the Hate Mail begin....

thunb your nose at common sense and build it into a rip snorting street terror

Agreed. I think you should have new 5.0 mustangs laughing hysterically at you just before you leave them three car lengths in your dust.

ka24det w/5 spd would be the ticket not sure about what differential gearing to go with though but somthing of the LSD pursuasion would be in order.

a KA24DE & 5speed would be perfect for me.. I also thought about an SR20DET for life after LeMons, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there...

A monumental day for my 210ZX (aka Project: FUGLY RATSUN)… I was able to track down the cars original builder with the help of the Texas DMV & the Internet… He sent me an email earlier today, and is going to send me some old pics of the “original” 210ZX build. He also offered to help me with any information I needed regarding the car’s history, the body kit option, and any additional details regarding the original build... Apparently he put A LOT of time & custom modifications into the original build. Should be really interesting documenting the original history of this 210ZX,.. and it’s rebirth into a classic racer… 24 Hours of LeMons or not… This is going to be interesting!... Stay Tuned!
