spiffinspudater
Well I finally did a compression check on my l20b and it came back ~120 on all 4 cylinders. From what I understand, this is good. I am, however, blowing smoke and was told that it may be the oil rings and was told to look into rebuilding the engine eventually or say screw it and just keep adding oil when it eats enough to notice it. Also, I found 2 points in the air vacuum assembly that are not connected to anything. I am hoping that by redoing the vacuum stuff I can get it to pass smog and finally be street legal. Any suggestions? ==Javin Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Javin i think you need to find a vaccum hose routing diagram. Ive seen decals under a few 620 hoods & the yards that show how they go & what they hook up to. And yeah 120 is ok. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
perform a leakdown tests to verify its the rings... bardahls no smoke-ring seal in the crankcase help my L16 compression and reduced the oil burn down to 1/2 qt/tank (from 2  ). may be enough to get through smog... spiffinspudater
Luckly where I am at they dont care about how much oil I burn or smoke, they just care about the excessive amount of hydrocarbons. It was too cold and windy for me to try to fix the place I think the vacume leak resides but I will try again tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
