  1. 1. What should I do?

    • Keep trying my stash of of carbs

    • Clean up the weber and put it on
    • Skip carbs and fit fuel injection
    • Someone sell me a known good A-series carb

I have nine stock carbs, but five of them are bad -- including the one on my Datsun now. It is a 1980 A14 carb, was running perfectly on my A12, got 35 mpg with the 4-speed, but stopped idling a while ago. I've cleaned it three times but still doesn't idle when it gets warm. I removed the pintle from the anti-diesel valve but it still won't run below 1,600 RPM.

So today I got another one ready, put it on, fired right up and overflowed gasoline all over everthing. Might be an easy fix for that one.

Another one looks great, but the air cleaner stud broke off in the top and I can't get it out. It's a big hitachi with 23/27 venturis (Weber has 26/27 venturis). Probably be perfect for an A12. It's an MPG carb that cuts the fuel on the overrun (like EFI does) for even better fuel economy.

I've also got a good Weber DGV but can't find it. And another 32/36 that needs a good cleaning to get the gritty dirt off it.

Now you know what I went thru. With all my weber not idleing.
