ggzilla
I have nine stock carbs, but five of them are bad -- including the one on my Datsun now. It is a 1980 A14 carb, was running perfectly on my A12, got 35 mpg with the 4-speed, but stopped idling a while ago. I've cleaned it three times but still doesn't idle when it gets warm. I removed the pintle from the anti-diesel valve but it still won't run below 1,600 RPM. So today I got another one ready, put it on, fired right up and overflowed gasoline all over everthing. Might be an easy fix for that one. Another one looks great, but the air cleaner stud broke off in the top and I can't get it out. It's a big hitachi with 23/27 venturis (Weber has 26/27 venturis). Probably be perfect for an A12. It's an MPG carb that cuts the fuel on the overrun (like EFI does) for even better fuel economy. I've also got a good Weber DGV but can't find it. And another 32/36 that needs a good cleaning to get the gritty dirt off it. Quote Link to comment
HRH
Buy a new weber and be done with it. Or have your A series carb rebuilt by a carburetor shop if the shafts are sloppy. Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
Since you gave the option, fuel inject that bitch! http://www.twminduction.com/ThrottleBody/ThrottleBody-FR.html Quote Link to comment
Dguy210
How about a NOS hitachi from OEMSurplus? Cheaper than a weber. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Hmmm, they have 2 new ones, a 1979, and a 1981: http://www.oem-surplus.com/nwp/210-1.htm only $125 Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
though not an option you listed how about twin Hitachi SU carbs?? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/DATSUN-A10-A12-1200-SUNNY-B110-B210-MORRIS-MINOR-TWIN-SU-S-U-CARBS-MANIFOLD-JDM-/110823675726?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19cd9b174e Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
$500 + $200 shipping? The eBay setup has an A10 1000cc manifold with A12 carbs, not exactly a performance setup. But that reminds me, I do have an A12GX twin-Hitachi setup. Just need an A12 manifold like the Lynx D1200. Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
Buy a new carb Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Oh I've also got a Hitachi DCH340 (which by the way flows more than a Weber 32/36). Guess i'd need an L-to-A adapter as the bolt pattern is larger than DGV or A-series. I've also got an A12 jet kit for a 510 Nikki carb. But no adapter. And no carb. Just a jet kit! banzai510(hainz)
I've cleaned it three times but still doesn't idle when it gets warm. I removed the pintle from the anti-diesel valve but it still won't run below 1,600 RPM. Now you know what I went thru. With all my weber not idleing. What should you do? Presidnet Obama needs YOU and Me to throw these Datsuns away and buy American. a Hemi Challenger and a Rubicon Jeep Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
throw a weber on till you can fix one of your others. thats what i would do if you like the OE carbs more. Quote Link to comment
