Are they worth it and will they be short enough to work with 280zx struts? I know they will fit in the strut tube, cause it says they are compatible. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
they are just a replacement shock GR2s I have a set of rears at home. If you lived closer I would give them to you. But everytime I give something away the MOFO sells the rig in 6mons to 1 year Quote Link to comment
DottiBlue
they are just a replacement shock GR2s I have a set of rears at home. If you lived closer I would give them to you. But everytime I give something away the MOFO sells the rig in 6mons to 1 year I've had mine for 3 and a half years and I've still never driven it. Just lots of work. I plan on keeping it around for awhile and actually get some enjoyment out of driving it. Anyways those struts aren't anything special than? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
no nothing special. just a replacement shock that I would rate same as a Monroe Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
The KYB's are good, I've ran them for years. BUT the ones he has listed for "the 510" are NOT for the 510 if he needs that big of a spacer to run them. Some strut inserts come with a 1/4" spacer, that's normal, but what he's trying to do is run a 280ZX insert inside the stock 510 strut. Which I wouldn't do. They are a good price though, but I wouldn't buy them unless you have 280ZX struts up front. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
run a 280ZX insert inside the stock 510 strut. ????? thats the only way to get new cartridges to fit now as most 510 listings are now NLA. Quote Link to comment
DottiBlue
I have 280zx struts. I just need to get struts inserts and wheels that fit the brakes. I ordered adjustable coil overs, caster camber plates, and ball joints/tie rods. Can't decide on which strut inserts I want yet. I want to drive this thing on the street, no Indy low here. So I think I'm just gonna go for the stock 280zx height, which leaves me with figuring out which brand to get. Choices choices choices. Quote Link to comment
Busta Nut
I've always had good luck with the tokico blue. They handle great and aren't too stiff for day to day. KYB GR-2 is just a plain shock. If you're looking for a normal ride they're fine. Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
KYB's, Gabriels, Monroes..............they'll all work just fine. My 510 is really low, and the ride in my car has always been really nice with stock replacement type strut inserts. The fancy stuff is way over rated. The spring will have the biggest effect on the ride, not the insert. The 82 way adjustable stuff is just a way to get more money out of your pocket. If you could ride in mine with the "stock" stuff, you'd be really surprised at just how perfect it feels. Quote Link to comment
