DanielC Posted February 16, 2012 Report Share Posted February 16, 2012 If you are trying to thread an aftermarket temp sender into it, you need to know the threads on the thermostat housing are BSP, not an typical American thread size. Link to comment
datzenmike Posted February 16, 2012 Report Share Posted February 16, 2012 The thermostat housing for the 510 ranges from $15 (pre '70 the one you want?) to about $38 at dealer. The L series housings vary by the number of senders and vacuum switches used in addition to the water temp sender. Some even have a 3 bolt water outlet cover over the thermostat. All would do the same job as long as the extra holes are filled or have the senders in them. Use Teflon tape or anti seize compound on the new one. Link to comment
