hitch
There is a big difference between the fuel injection tanks and carb'd. The shape may be the same, but the fuel pickup is likely way different. Take a look at my woody fuel tank upgrade thread in the "how to" section. Should give you an IDEA on what you are in for. boonedock saints
That means the 1975 and 1976 models. I know theres a big difference between FI and Carbed tanks, well venting and fuel pickups anyway, other then that they should be shaped the same....IN GENERAL. Thanks for clearing up 1975 1976 thingy...makes sense....just came back from 2 yards....one has a 76 and an 83 the other has an 82.....I think I can use some of the interior stuff from the 75, but they wont sell me the tanks....oh well the hunt continues. ggzilla
So you want to buy a tank with holes in it -- why wouldn't they sell it? Lazy wreckers. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
never looked at a tank at any junk yard, havnt had an issue with mine yet :P Quote Link to comment
boonedock saints
never looked at a tank at any junk yard, havnt had an issue with mine yet :P Gents, the yards where you pull your own stuff genrally pull the tanks or poke holes in them....for guys that smoke while pulling tanks, guys that go to siphon gas, and in general straight dumbasses that dont realize how much danger is envolved....its not the liquid that gets you its the fumes, then the liquid. I understand the reasons, but if THEY pull them I dont get why they cant sell them. Maybe some type of lawyer sued and won back when, and they said screw that from now on...dont know. ggzilla
Or maybe they just lazy. I have had money in my hand, take it out of my pocket and wrecker's told me they don't want to go out in the yard and get the part I wanted. And those parts weren't fuel tanks. Quote Link to comment

Its not the case in this JY, you pull the parts yourself, but Im sure there are some where lazy emplyoees are abound. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Pick-N-Pull with 51 locations nationwide sells Fuel Tanks for $17. Most yards are too much in a hurry to drain the gas, but instead poke holes so they make more money, besides the chances of anyone actaully wanting to buy the tank are almost nil.
