johns66
Hi Keith, I'm checking my Datsun service manual now, for the L520. It states that the engine oil capacity is 3.1 liters (0.79 US gal.) Transmission is 2 liters, and differential is 0.9. (I'm guessing liters here, the manual didn't say, just ends in a period). To quote the manual: "The standard capacity of oil is about 0.9. The method of feeding oil should be done by taking off the feeler plug at the rear cover of the housing and fill in full up to the feeding hole". So much for the Japanese to English translation in 1966. Enjoy your truck,John Quote Link to comment
zed1
John, Thanks for the info. Do you know the recommended weight of the engine oil and transmission & differential fluid? Thanks again, Keith Quote Link to comment
johns66
Sorry, I forgot to check fluid type, but the manual doesn't indicate oil type or weight, except for the differential. It says: Nominated Hypoid gear oil No. MP90 must be used. (temperature over 32 degrees celseus use SAE MP140) I think MP90 is 90 weight gear oil, which is what I think I have in mine. As for engine oil I use 20/50. I have a Clymer manual at home. I'll check it tonite. John Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Use 90 weight for the differential and transmission. 10W-30 for the engine. Although you can use practically any gasoline-engine oil on the market, like 20W-50. Quote Link to comment
