Datsun Front Aerospace Brake Kit Installation

Hi there guys, here's a technical write up of the front Aerospace Brake Kit for B210 75-78, which I bought for my Datsun 210 79' (aka. B310 japan market). First of all I would like to give my special thanks to RedBanner for helping me find the struts needed for my car. Now most of you would ask why I didn't used the factory struts? well the answer is simple, because the spindles from b310 are thinner and use smaller bearings and since I wanted to used the aerospace brake kit, the only way to do so was by swapping them with the b210 ones.

 

First thing you need to source a set B210 75-78 front strut casings.

 

Then, since I'm gonna use coilovers on the front I chopped the factory spring perches.

 

Then a little clean up and stripping...

 

 

A friend of mine welded for me the T3 coilover sleeve perches and a little tab for the brake line

 

 

Then a little primer and some paint later..

 

 

 

 

Now we start with the process of drilling with a 17/64 bit and tapping it with 5/16-18 tap, all four dust cover bolt holes.

 

Make sure you tap them straight because when bolt up the caliper bracket the bolts must sit flush to it.

 

 

 

 

Once you are finished tapping all four clean the bolts with solvent and apply some red loctite to them, then torque them to 30ft lbs.

 

 

 

Then you can bolt and thighten the studs into the hub, apply some red loctite to the bottom part of the treads, after that you can torque them to 40ft lbs. Also you can attach the rotor to the hub after bolting the studs.

 

Then you can pack the bearings with grease and install them into the hub (note: The bearing races come already pressed in by Aerospace), after you put in both bearings you can install the rear hub seal.

 

 

Then you can install the hub onto the spindles, in my case I bought all new hardware from ebay

 

 

 

Once you slide the caliper in, torque it to the bracket to 35ft lbs

 

 

And here's the final product folks

Nice write-up. I take it you could use the stock springs or in other words changing to coilovers is not required?

 

How do you find them to work, do they drive nice?

 

By the way, your car is a B310 in the worldwide market. Look under the hood, and it will say B310. In the Japan market they were marketed as the "Datsun Sunny".

Yes they can be used with stock spring perches, but since would be for drag and street use i decide to go with coil overs, I still haven't test them out since the car is still in process will come with a post about it later..

I'm waiting on tax return money for the front wheels, but the one I have has dual patterns, which are ford 5x4.5 and gm 5x4.75, but you can also order them with a 4x114mm bolt pattern.

How good are they for racing? They are not ventilated. Most everyone on Ratsun is upgrading to ventilated discs.

They actually cost $650.00 from the racing store, and they are the only ones that sells them with a 4lug pattern

A little update installed the aerospace brakes all around with 4 piston calipers all around too and a 15/16 280zx master cylinder on the factory 210 brake booster, also installed an adjustable proportioning valve for the rear ones. Pedal feels great specially with some ate DOT 4 blue racing brake fluid, will take some pictures later of the setup.
