so I have only one key and am super paranoid im gonna lose it. i havent been able to find the blank at the key places round here. Am i not trying hard enough /

My 620 uses the Axxess brand #32 freddys has them IDK if 521 has different keys

You are not trying hard enough. I got mine at Home Depot, and it was an Axxess key (Nissan/Subaru type).

 

If your 521 uses a single-sided key there are about 6 different types, so a little more difficult to match up.

yeah it's the tiny single sided octo-headed jobby. Th little mom and pop places don't seem to have a blank and the big box places just have this camera system that totally does not recognize it. Skyblue had the best idea.... E-Bay! DUH!

Are you trying to get one that looks exactly the same? Because if you go to the Nissan dealer, the new replacement looks different, but still works they same.

 

It's the same with all Datsun keys, it's hard to find ones with the same original head style, except on eBay.

Wow thats kinda worn. Typical but its gonna be hard for them to cut it perfectly. Once they cut it, If it's particularly tight, get some round metal files and you can fine tune it. Ive had 3 keys i've made for my 240sx and the original is so worn out, I've had to do this with all of them.
