BillM
I know that I read something about it a while ago but can't find the link to put a B210 5-speed into a 210 Anyone able to find it? Bill Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I haven't heard of anyone doing that, so we don't have instructions for it. But it should be exactly the same as replacing a B210 4-speed with a B210 5-speed (B210 4-speed and 210 5-speed are direct replacements). * Use the automatic driveshaft * Use the automatic crossember and insulator * get a longer clutch hose, 'cause it's on the other side * Use the special B210 5-speed clutch disk and release bearing Sleeve Quote Link to comment
BillM
Thanks- that was exactly the kind of info that I needed. Any clue if the 210 tunnel will take the size? Trans doesn't look too much bigger but don't know. Would the driveshaft & crossmember from a B210 5-speed car (work?) be the same as the 210 auto stuff? Bill Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
Is the 210 a 4 speed now? Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
Its pretty easy to swap a 63a into a auto car, almost bolt in, 4 speed cars take a few mods, not hard. Quote Link to comment
BillM
--but into a 210? it isn't a B210. Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
Yeah, the thing is all 5 speeds and 4 speeds for the A series are tge same lenght, exept the b210 5speed wich is the same lenght as thr auto trans. So you have to space the x member back about 2" uf you swap into a 4 or 5 speed car, auto cars have extra mounting holes in most cases. Youl see for your self of course, but make shure to measyre exactly how the motor sits now, and make shure its the same after the swap. Quote Link to comment
BillM
Thanks- I'll try it Bill Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Bill, any chance you could take photos of the crossmember details for your swap, and post them here? Tunnels are the same size -- for both manual and auto cars. They are different in the B110, but same size in B210 and B310. B210 reportedly has the crossmember mounts (bolt places) in the tunnel varying between the three different transmission crossmebers. B310 (210) all have five mounting holes in the body, for the three different crossmembers if I'm not mistaken. Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
210 tunnles are all th same? Thats cool but not the case for b210s, all 3 are slightly different the auto tunnel is close to a 5 tunnel but the 4 speed one is smaller. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, 210 tunnels are all same as I understand. 210 is the marketing name for B310. Quote Link to comment
BillM
I'll try to photograph what I do for this- ggzilla- are there any automatic driveshafts in that pile you may still have? Bill Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I think there may be one. I'll go and look. One is different from the others. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
OK, one appears to be an automatic most are 46.5" joint to joint one is 41" which matches the specs. The short/auto one has stiff u-joints, they are not loose but should probably be replaced, which can be done with Rockford parts. Quote Link to comment
BillM
Good- I'll try to get with you about it Does the short one have the auto type splines on the trans end? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The yoke is about 1/4 bigger diameter than the others. Hard to tell about the splines it is snowing outside and cold in the garage. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Delivered ... done. Funny, the harder it snows, the more people are out driving around. Quote Link to comment
