The crews got shore leave with the warning to be back by sailing time or they would be left behind. "Time and tide wait for no man." The Captaim and Officers would retire to the Ritzy hotels and "other" houses along the Bund. The poor sailors, if they were sober enough to remember that they had to get back to the ship, would flag down a Jinrickshaw and yell to be taken to the "Boss' street" or Honcho Dory.
