If you want trouble free operation change the ATF and filter every 50,000 miles, 30,000 would be better. Change at the first sign of discoloration or at the end of each season if towing or if in severe driving temperatures. These 3N71Bs will run forever with minimal upkeep BUT heat will destroy them. Hill climbing and towing are the worst. An in line trans cooler is a good idea for any automatic.
