Recommended Posts

Up for trade is my '73 vega notchback, all original, 4 cyl, 2 speed powerglide auto tranny.

I have a rust bucket 620 but id like something nicer too...i would PREFER automatics, i can drive a stick but I don't plan on racing so id rather cruise along in an auto.

Looks like monday its being traded for a 73 620 with an l16 bored to 2000, weber carb, clean and mint inside and out, 4 speed.

That is, unless someone else has something that interests me more.....

Beware!! you cant bore a L16 to 2.0,if you bored it to that size you wouldn't have any cylinders left!!!The L16 CAN be bored to accept L20b pistons but displacement will NOT be 2.0 needs a taller deck block for increased stoke to displace 2.0.

SO my dilemma: a clean beautiful 620 with a 4 speed, standard suspension and all, that i end up technically making money off of....

OR... a hot rodded 620 with a 3 speed auto that a little rough but already has the stance wheels and tires i want....that ill technically be losing quite a bit on...

Decisions decisions..

To have a 2000 L16 the bore would have to be 93mm or a 1 centimeter/100mm oversize. This would have ground away the cylinders onto the water jacket.

Damn that car brings back memories. Some better than others. rolleyes.gif As much as I love my Datsuns, I would say keep the Vega until you find the Datsun you want. Don't settle for a truck you will have to change everything on. Be patient, you'll find it.

Your car looks really nice. And like our Datto's, they aren't making that many of them the last time I checked.

Looks like the 4 speed is mine on monday, i found it thanks to you guys posting it in the east cost ads, and damn its clean.

To make it how i want it I have to :Paint it, redo the exhaust, lower on blocks, new wheels and tires. Possible Cam, roll out the fenders, put fenderskirts on it.

That's all, folks!

Sweet Vega, really nice car. You just don't see a lot of 70's car period, anymore. Which makes them cooler, I think.

I agree with Jester, hold out for what you really want. It's a nice car, you should be able to trade or sell, Especially this Spring.

And I'd listen to these guys about the motor, they know what they're talking about

No, im not enough of an asshat to tear apart a perfectly good original vehicle, and no, its not a cosworth, cosworths were made with the later bodystyle, and were only produced in black with gold accents, it was a fuel injected 4 cyl vehicle and under 2000 were of that spec, the 76 models appeared in some different paint styles but were a slightly different body style as well. An EFI engine that cranked some srious power, they sold for like $900 bucks less than corvettes of comparing years.
