Npdavies.
(I remember seeing a thread with a bunch of people's custom steering wheels, but can't find it.) So I was painting my steering wheel just to get it nicer than it was. Primed, then used black rattle can; which didn't exactly turn out as well as I had hoped so I decided to prime it again and retry. So that last coat of primer ended up not sticking and looking like this: Which I rather like, so I'm keeping it that way, at least for a while. I'd like to see what you guys have done with your steering wheels! 1 Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I tried painting my wheel, but a;lshrfapi9ugf!, kept getting fisheyes in the paint. So then I stripped it down, degreased everything again, and it still came out badly. Then I just stripped the paint back to its stock brushed black look. Quote Link to comment
Skib
the primer and black different brands? Quote Link to comment
Guest 510kamikazifreak
Its called paint checking, usually when sprayed laquer over enamel(or vice versa) Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Aluminum???? If so...you need self etching primer...prior to paint Or....you will get the crackling Quote Link to comment
Npdavies.
Both were Rustoleum, and it was around 52 degrees outside. I don't know if that had anything to do with it but this is what happened. I had little fisheyes in the black too, over the first coat of primer, but I like how it turned out, with the red rivets and all. The weathered look is kinda neat though. :P I painted the horn button black as well with no primer, and it came out pretty perfect, with very few imperfections. Quote Link to comment
Guest 510kamikazifreak
still paint checking, the primer was still soft, sprayed top coat over then the primer dried.. some call it "antiuqing(sp) Quote Link to comment
paradoxx
just as sealik says,if it was an aluminum, the primer is different. Any how, the crackeld finish looks great. Quote Link to comment

Before: After: My horn doesn't even work. :P The PO wired the horn to a button and mounted it on the center console, so maybe that would work for you? Or at the very least something along the lines of that. Having to fill 3 holes in a center console is never fun. Quote Link to comment
hUmBoLdT_HooV
My horn doesnt work either, the car had the stock steering wheel in it when i got it i switched to the Grant, i just want something to fill that hole in the middle of the wheel. Quote Link to comment
