fryanbacon
I totally forgot in my introduction post "new guy from southern idaho" that my first datsun purchase was for an 81(or 82) datsun 200sx. those things were uglier than a mud fence but man it had some cool factors. the motor had 300k miles on it with perfect compression. I believe a 2.0 or 2.2 4 cyl with EIGHT spark plugs! 4 for intake and 4 for cleaner burning exhaust(I lived in so-cal at the time). haha mine looked just like this but a silvery light blue color Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Welcome anyway. 7/82 to 9/83 were Z22 motors I believe. Not pretty, no. I have two of them for parts cars and they are picked over and rough. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
I had a '83 for a few months. Never drove it except to move it around the yard, as the ECU had blown (and went in a way that opened 2 injectors all the time, even with the key off- they turned off only by unplugging them). That flooded the oil with fuel, and it had apparently been run like that which probably destroyed the rings in 2 cyls and filled the tailpipe with fuelly oil that never cleaned up. Add to that the fact that the '83 had a unique ECU that was next to impossible to find for under $300, and the fuel bath left it with a rod knock I turned around and unloaded it for $200 to a guy who wanted to put a turbo engine in and make a drift car out of it. I actually don't mind the look... I really wanted to use it as a commuter. It had the funky voice warning system (that worked) and power everything. Quote Link to comment
fryanbacon
It had the funky voice warning system (that worked) and power everything. haha! yeah that was one of the cool aspects of it! "left door is open" and "fuel level is low" haha. my friends nicknamed mine "the blue bomb" Quote Link to comment
