a320inMaine
Just scored some tires for my stock 320 wheels, which I'm gonna blast & paint. Need some opinions on what I can use on them for caps or covers. Quote Link to comment
wayno
I have been told this is what came on the 320 pickups/trucks. They are hard to find, so a lot of guys put the 620 dogdish style or the 520-21 style on there trucks. This is the 520-21 type I have been told. And this is the 620 dogdish type. ggzilla
the 520/521 has that little concave part in the middle. They are zinc plated. the 620 ones have the two circles, and are stainless steel at least the later ones were. Quote Link to comment
tdaaj
roadster caps look good too. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes but imagine the shame on taking your truck to Blue Lake and not winning and award because the wrong caps are on it. Oh wait, that's Canby.. Quote Link to comment

KFunk740
What about the beauty/trim rings around the outside? Any ideas for a source of those? I'm not going for perfection myself, but just something to look decent for cheap..... I've got a set of original wheels that I need to start prepping, too. Quote Link to comment

I think the last time I bought a set was for $45 with shipping. If your rim is 14" then get the standard 14" trim rings and they'll look great. But there are also plastic chrome anf the steel chrome. I think the steel ones are better but I have bought the plastic and they worked good too as far as fit. Take pics and post what ever you decide. Good luck. :) Quote Link to comment
wayno
I use beauty rings on everything, the last new set I bought from "hubcap world" in Portland Or. It wouldn't suprize me if most tire outlets didn't sell them also, there are differant styles also. My favorite wheel is the stock 79 datsun 620 wheel, as it has fit on every disc brake package I have used so far, but I haven't tried a 720 drop spindle yet, but I have a set of dual piston calipers on my 521 work truck, and the 79 620 wheels clear the calipers fine, but I did have to change a hub to the 720 type, as the 79 620 wheel wouldn't bolt onto the hardbody hub. If I were you, I would go to the wrecking yards and check every vehicle with 14 inch wheels that have beauty rings, eventually you will find a set, I paid about $60.00 for a new set quite a few years ago, since then, I have been finding them at the wrecking yards. KFunk740
Ahh OK, so pretty much anything will clip on there just fine? I couldn't remember how beauty rings attach to steel wheels, and whether its specific for the rim. I haven't put beauty rings on a steel wheel since I was 16 years old, and I was trying to make my '86 Ford Escort look reeeeaaaaal nice. Quote Link to comment

wayno
These are 1967ish datsun roadster wheels(9 slots) with 620 hubcaps. The stock 1979 datsun 620 wheels(6 lug) look similar, but have only 6 slots. The photo below is of the wheels on my NL320 with stock 320 hubcaps, Mike told me they were dodge wheels(6 lug). wayno
Stock 1979 datsun 620 wheels also have 6 slots, and look like the dodge wheels, and the datsun wheels have the nubs to hold the datsun hubcaps on. The dodge wheels on my NL320 have had little welds put on the rims to hold the hubcaps on, the dodge rims were never meant to have/hold datsun hubcaps. Fact is they look exactly the same with the hubcaps installed. Here is a shitty 79 datsun 620 wheel without a beauty ring. Here is the dodge wheel. Quote Link to comment
